چکیده

This paper presents a new object representation, Active Mask Hierarchies (AMH), for object detection. In this representation, an object is described using a mixture of hierarchical trees where the nodes represent the object and its parts in pyramid form. To account for shape variations at a range of scales, a dictionary of masks with varied shape patterns are attached to the nodes at different layers. The shape masks are “active” in that they enable parts to move with different displacements. The masks in this active hierarchy are associated with histograms of words (HOWs) and oriented gradients (HOGs) to enable rich appearance representation of both structured (eg, cat face) and textured (eg, cat body) image regions. Learning the hierarchical model is a latent SVM problem which can be solved by the incremental concave-convex procedure (iCCCP). The resulting system is comparable with the stateof-the-art methods when evaluated on the challenging public PASCAL 2007 and 2009 datasets.

Model-Based Object Segmentation in Video Sequence

This paper presents an object contour detection using the object shape model. First, we detect the change of background luminance ratio outside the bounding box of object. Second, the temporal segmentation is obtained by mesh based motion activity detection. A new combined mask is composed of temporal segmentation result and shape model by OR operation. Finally, for modification of the mask, we...

REVERSE LOOP SUBDIVISION FOR GEOMETRY AND TEXTURES

Reverse subdivision aims at constructing a coarser representation of an object given by a fine polygon mesh. In this paper, we first derive a mask for reverse Loop subdivision that can be applied to both regular and extraordinary vertices. The mask is parameterized, and thus can also be used in reversing variants of Loop subdivision, such as those proposed by Warren and Litke. We apply this mas...

An Error Detection and Correction Framework for Connectomics

We define and study error detection and correction tasks that are useful for 3D reconstruction of neurons from electron microscopic imagery, and for image segmentation more generally. Both tasks take as input the raw image and a binary mask representing a candidate object. For the error detection task, the desired output is a map of split and merge errors in the object. For the error correction...

Object Detection by Selective Integration of Higher Order Local Autocorrelation Mask Feature

Higher order Local Autocorrelation (HLAC) proposed by Otsu [5] is often used in the recent computer vision application such as gate recognition, object tracking, or video surveillance. The feature value of HLAC is the integral of the product between local pixels’ intensity, and usually the integral is calculated in entire images. However, in the image recognition, feature selection is often eff...

Application of Combined Local Object Based Features and Cluster Fusion for the Behaviors Recognition and Detection of Abnormal Behaviors

In this paper, we propose a novel framework for behaviors recognition and detection of certain types of abnormal behaviors, capable of achieving high detection rates on a variety of real-life scenes. The new proposed approach here is a combination of the location based methods and the object based ones. First, a novel approach is formulated to use optical flow and binary motion video as the loc...
